The compact Zojirushi, the rice cooker people buy once and keep for fifteen years. It makes up to three cups of uncooked rice, enough for a family of three or four, and its fuzzy-logic chip adjusts the heat as it cooks, so white, brown, sushi rice and oatmeal all come out right without you watching it. The keep-warm setting holds dinner's rice until whoever's late gets home, and the inner pot is nonstick and rinses clean.
